General outline of Karate

Supreme Master Gichin Funakoshi, who changed the name of
the martial art from "Karate-jutsu" to "Karate-do" in 1929
and established the five dojo precepts said,
"Karate is the art of protecting oneself without using
armament and leading a virtuous life.
A person who trains Karate has to be modest and has peaceable manner.
However he has to be brave enough to rise against opponents
following humanity or public interests even though there are
thousands of adversaries.
In addition he is required to be straightforward,
acts according to his principles.
Among many kinds of martial arts like Judo and
Kendo (Japanese art of fencing),
Karate can be described as the origin of all of them.
Every form in reality is empty, and emptiness is the true form
